Guests on the podcast Zestful Aging always sound interesting. Without fail. No matter what the topic is. Which is one reason why I'm so happy to be interviewed on the new episode, talking about the things I couldn't throw out and the one thing I did give away (my extra kidney).
I wouldn't have predicted that Zestful Aging would become one of my favorite podcasts. Many of the episodes are about women and aging. Not the sweet spot for a man who denies that he's aging. But I couldn't help it. And I put all the blame on host Nicole Christina.
Nicole proves that psychotherapists make the best interviewers. She asks great questions and has on-the-spot insights that take the conversation up a notch. So I listen at night as I do the dishes and it makes that job go faster.
In recent episodes, Nicole has interviewed people about their love of birding, fear of drowning, alternatives to toxic art supplies, and weightlifting. I especially enjoyed the episode with the compulsive storyteller Gregg LeFevre.
For any of you who host podcasts and want to learn from her, Nicole literally wrote the book -- which you can buy on Amazon.
I'm so glad that Nicole gave me the chance to talk about I Couldn't Throw It Out --and why saving things is so important when it comes to preserving our history. Plus, she let me explain why I can't let go of treasures that remind me of the friends who have helped me through so many of life's challenges.
You can listen to my Zestful Aging interview on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get podcasts.
And if you want to hear Nicole's extremely generous account of our conversation, here's a short Youtube video.
